The Stuart- Top Toffee Ale 'ouse

The Clock

The Clock
167 Walton Road (corner of Bradewell St.)
Walton

Nominated by an unknown Kipper last season (e-mail us if it was you).

Before the Man Ure game on 7th Feb 2004, the Blue Kipper boys went to check out The Clock, one of the smallest boozers in Walton - next to Weatherspoons anything would look small (other than Lavingtons nads!).

The Management *
Well, matchdays mustn't matter to Stuart Longworth because he wasn't there - maybe he's redshite?!
He must be some boss though because his committed team of three worked there nuts off for 3 hours against a full house of thirsty blueboys.

Atmosphere * * *
The place was heaving from early doors but with just one barmaid the service was a nightmare, the lovely Leanne was later joined by x and eventually y, she was supported throughout by young glass collector z.
We wondered why so many blokes were supporting beards in the pub, then realised that they had been waiting longer than us!

Ale * * *
Good stock. Extra Cold, Guinness, Stella, Tetlets Cask bitter & Tetleys Mild 'Dark', loads of cold bottles & a nice touch - the old Lamb's Rum which went down nicely. Stingray was inpressed with the Wiskey's & Jogger was more than happy with his Jack Daniel's.
Music, TV & Radio * *

Small box with SKY, no other sounds, none that you could hear anyway! Had to crank it up with 'An if y'know yer 'istory' but appears not the done thing as we got funny looks!!

The hands on The Clock Sign show 10.12, not sure if that's early opening or an early bell ring for last orders? No one new the significance of the time?
The Clock was in the Good Beer Guide in 1994 and is still proud to display the sign, it wouldn't be in the Good Service Guide 2004!
Local redshite had daubed the bogs with 'Toffeeshite' - they just don't get it do they?!
Nice enough place and a crackin barmaid but make sure that you treble up if you intend getting pissed - unless you wish to admire the scenery.
