Cahill
Bows Out To Italians
Everton's
Tim Cahill is out of the World cup, after 10 men Italy scored
a last minute penalty to take their place in the quarter finals.
Tim played well and had a great tussle with Gennaro Gattuso
in the middle of the park. With a bit of luck could have had
a goal or two. Former Everton player Marco Materazzi was sent
off for Italy. So Tim will have time to have a break with his
family before he joins Everton for Pre-season training. The
boys report on 3rd July 2006. Tim should be given an extra week.
Tim
says: "I'm
a bit numb. I don't know what I am feeling at the moment but
I suppose it's disbelief. I thought we played really well in
the first half and in the second half we tried to break them
down but you need goals. We played well and went out to get
a goal - but then this guy falls over in the box and he gets
a penalty." (26/06/06)

On Italy
Tiny
Tim is looking forward to seeing more Evertonians in the crowd
at Australia's game against Italy.
Tim
says: "I wore it at the end of the Croatia game
because a lot of Evertonians have travelled a long way to come
and watch me play. It
was a nice way to pay your respects to people who watch you and
support you all season and take time out and spend a lot of money
to come and watch Australia play.
If you are going to play anyone you might as well play the best
and we've had Brazil and now Italy. So we'll have to knock out
the best. We've got great attitude and we show respect to any
team but there is no fear. We feel the only way we can lose is
by shooting ourselves in the foot. It's the biggest thing I've
ever achieved and every day it seems to get a higher and higher
profile. This is the biggest football has ever been back home."

Nuno
Through
Nuno
Valente and his Portuguese teammates have set up a Quarter Final
tie with England this Saturday after beating the Dutch 1-0 in
the last sixteen. Nuno was one of fourteen, or was it fifteen
maybe sixteen, I lost count in the end, players booked, but
was not one of the four sent off in a match that bordered on
madness thanks mainly to the refereeing of some Russian looney.
Maniche scored the winner to set up another bender for me this
Saturday. Get in there. (25/06/06)

Back
To Munich
Here
we are again at the World Cup in Munich in front of the famous
Olympic Stadium - home of that memorable Bayern Munich 0 Everton
0 draw that set the scene all those years ago for the fantastic
Goodison triumph! Sad to see the old Stadium falling into decline
but it was a great venue to watch the England game on the big
screen. The Stadium looks as futuristic as any modern stadium
despite being built in 1972! Paul. (24/06/06) |

| Archie
Sings The Blues
Australian
assistant coach Graham Arnold sent the Socceroos out to thank
their fans after the Croatia match.
Reserve
striker Archie Thompson stole the show, wearing an Everton shirt
and being urged on by Stan Lazaridis, he grabbed a corner flag,
and did his best Freddie Mercury impression. Priceless. (23/06/06)

We
went to see the Iran v Portugal game at the weekend in Frankfurt.
We brought our big EFC flag with us. It was a great match. The Iran
fans wanted a picture with the flag, and the Portugal fans too.
They were singing, "Duncan Ferguson!"
Thanks, Vinny and Patrick. (23/06/06) |

Imagine the scene. Australia v Croatia game in Stuttgart. As you
can see it's my mate Day who managed to swap shirts with Tim Cahill,
the jammy bastard! He was out there with his two brothers Joey
and Paul, his dad Tony and me.
Not only was the game one of the best in the tournament, Day got
a himself a great piece of memrobilia to last him a lifetime.
So everyone can now put a face to "that jammy bastard who
got Cahill's shirt" Ben Assa. (11/07/06)

Swaps Shirts With An Everton Fan

Here To See Tim Swap Shirts
While
most of his Aussie team mates were swapping shirts with Croatia
players after the 2-2 draw, Tim Cahill noticed a supporter wearing
the blue jersey of Everton after the final whistle and initiated
a swap with his sweat-stained Aussie shirt. The fan was ecstatic.
Tim
says: "I just wanted to pay my respects to the fans
who have travelled a long way and spent a lot of money to support
us. I wanted to make it worthwhile for them." (23/06/06)
